Lorene and Danny became members last week and here is a sneak peek at their welcome message. We are so excited to see their build evolve. Below is the message they posted in the group, and above is their beautiful parcel of land.

Hey y’all! I’m Lorene Evans and my husband is Danny Evans. We live in NE Atlanta, just outside of the perimeter, near where we both grew up.
We will be building on our family farm, which is 110 acres with cows, an hour south of Atlanta, near Newnan, Georgia. Since Danny was a little boy, farming with his father, he has had a 20 acre spot picked out for a house, near where the old family home once stood. The farm has been in the family since the 1800s. There is only a pole barn and a machinery shop there now.
We have been talking and sketching out what we want. We are at the point of finding people to do the steps we need. Danny still needs to check on permits before we break ground.
We are planning a three bedroom, 2 bath home. There will be a half bath in the three-four car detached garage and a breezeway between the house and the garage. We want a metal frame, sides and roof with a walkout basement.
We plan to have a big great room with a fireplace. I want the kitchen and dining area included in the great room. I need a mudroom for the washer and dryer with an area for hanging coats and leaving outside shoes stored, with a closet of all my cleaning supplies, like vacuums, mops, brooms and dusting rags etc. I also want a pantry for food, kitchen counter appliances and extra serving and cooking pots, pans and dishes. We will have a normal hall bath and two big bedrooms. We want a bigger master bedroom with walk-in closets and a vaulted ceiling. The master bathroom will have a walk-in shower, bathtub, two sinks with storage. I know we will need more closets like a linen closet etc, just got to figure that out.
We want one floor that will be handicap accessible. Danny does want a loft over the kitchen/dining/mudroom/pantry area. Danny also wants a safe room away from the house, underground for bad weather. We also love having porches.
We have both retired once. I’m a retired teacher and have subbing a lot in the past 11 years. Danny kept the busses going for the school system and picked up another full time job after retiring. He has about 1 1/2 years to retire again. Now is the time to start getting things going for building our retirement home and having our two kids and their spouses and two grandchildren visit us.
